Nnamdi Kanu visits South-East Senators; IPOB leader Caution On Bail Conditions.
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mr.
Nnamdi Kanu met with Southeast senators late Tuesday night in Abuja. The meeting
was held in the Apo Quarters, residence of Deputy Senate President Ike
Ekweremadu. The meeting a source said was an avenue by the IPOB leader to thank
the senators for their efforts to secure his release.
At the meeting, the senators urged Mr. Kanu to abide by rules
and conditions related to his bail by an
Abuja Federal High court on the 28th
of April 2017 .The senators have also assured Mr. Kanu that they were working assiduously
to secure the release of three IPOB
members still in detention.
It was also revealed that the senators did not ask Kanu to abort
his agitation for the actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, but
stressed out the need for unity and development in the Southeast.
Also yesterday, the camp of the deputy senate president has
alleged that an arrangement have been concluded to clamp Ekweremadu into detention
within the next two weeks. Accusing fingers has been as pointed at some unnamed
persons in the Presidency as masterminds of the plot.
According to Senator Abaribe who spoke on behalf of the
opposition lawmakers, said that the unnamed persons were plotting to use the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other security agencies to
carry out the plot. He alleged that the security agencies plan to plant huge
sums of money in Ekweremadu’s residence in Enugu and elsewhere and then conduct
a search on the premises to fish out the planted implicating items. He alleged
another plot to plant a gun in his car just to frame him up.
Condemning the alleged plot, which they said must be
resisted, the senators called on the peace loving members of the public to be
aware of what they described as an insidious plan to cow dissenting voices. Abaribe
said.
